Best AEO Agencies in Utah: How to Choose

Wudel Consulting checks every day which businesses and pages ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode name for its clients' customer questions; this answer comes from that tracking. Written by Sam Wudel, founder of Wudel Consulting in Lehi, Utah, following Google's guidance on helpful, people-first content.

I'm Sam Wudel, founder of Wudel Consulting in Lehi. We run an AEO program for local service businesses, starting with a Salt Lake City roofer whose results are on our Olympus Roofing case study. When we asked five AI engines "best AEO agency in Utah" on October 30, 2026, none named us. They named the firms below. This guide explains how to judge them, and us, with facts you can check.

What Is an AEO Agency, and What Should It Do for You?

An AEO agency works to get your business named and linked in the answers AI tools give, not only ranked in a list of blue links. In practice that means finding the questions your customers ask, publishing the clearest answer on your site, adding structured data, and measuring whether ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google's AI Overviews start naming you.

It builds on SEO. Google says its AI Overviews and AI Mode draw on pages that are indexed and eligible to appear in Search, so a site with technical problems will struggle in both. OpenAI documents a separate crawler, OAI-SearchBot, that decides which sites can appear in ChatGPT search answers. Our explainer on AEO vs SEO covers where the two overlap and where they split.

You may also see the work called GEO (generative engine optimization) or "AI SEO". The labels differ; the job is the same. Judge the agency on the work, not the acronym.

How Do You Choose an AEO Agency in Utah?

Choose an agency that can show you, in writing, four things: what AI engines say about your business today, how it will measure change and how often, what it costs and on what terms, and a named client whose numbers moved. Each takes minutes to check on the agency's site or in a first call.

Source: each agency's own website, read October 30, 2026. "Not stated" means we did not find it on the pages we read; ask the agency directly.

  1. Ask for your baseline first. A good agency asks the engines your customers' questions before it pitches, and shows you who gets named instead of you. If it can't, it can't measure progress either.
  2. Ask which engines it tracks, and how often. ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode give different answers to the same question. AI answers also change from day to day, so a single screenshot proves little. Daily checks over weeks show a trend.
  3. Look for published pricing and terms. If pricing isn't on the site, ask for the monthly fee, the minimum term and the cancellation notice in the first call.
  4. Read the case studies for names, dates and a baseline. "Visibility up 300%" means nothing without a starting number, a time frame and a client you could call.
  5. Ask what you'll own. The articles, schema and data should stay on your site if you leave.
  6. Decide whether you need more than AEO. If you also need paid ads, PR or a large content team, a full-service agency may suit you better than a specialist.

Which AEO Agencies in Utah Should You Compare?

Compare two or three of the agencies below and ask each the same questions. They are listed alphabetically, not ranked. The right choice depends on whether you want a specialist, a full-service agency or a national firm, and on how much proof you need before you sign.

Big Leap

Big Leap is a Lehi digital marketing agency that says it has 17+ years in the business. Its AI SEO service covers schema, conversational content and "AI tracking and analytics", and names ChatGPT Search, Google AI Overviews, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot and Claude. It also sells paid search, paid social, digital PR, reputation management and CRO. It publishes no pricing. Its named case studies (Round Sky, Visionworks) report SEO results, not AI-answer results. Best for businesses that want AEO inside a full-service program.

Fuel Online

Fuel Online lists a Boston headquarters and no Utah office, but AI engines name it for this question, so it belongs in the comparison. It sells "AI SEO, AEO & GEO" as a named service, says it reviews buyer questions and the sources AI cites, measures brand mentions separately from linked citations, and states that no agency can guarantee a citation. Its site publishes AEO and GEO case studies with numbers, mostly for B2B, legal and healthcare clients. No pricing is published. Best for larger companies comfortable with a remote, national firm.

Novarte AI

Novarte AI is based in Draper and offers technical SEO, local SEO and Maps, website optimization and its own CRM. Its homepage states "We optimize for AEO (Answer Engine Optimization)" and names ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini. It works on a project or retainer basis, starts with a technical audit and quotes each job. We found no published pricing and no case studies with numbers. Best for a business that wants local SEO and a CRM from one Utah vendor.

Rock Salt Marketing Cooperative

Rock Salt Marketing Cooperative describes itself as a Utah-based agency with teams in Utah and Tennessee; its site data gives a 2023 founding date. It sells SEO, paid media and web design, including franchise marketing, and frames its SEO around ranking on "AI search platforms". It states "No Term Commitment". Its case study cards did not show readable figures when we checked. Best for franchises and multi-location businesses that want SEO and ads together without a long contract.

Searchbloom

Searchbloom is an SEO and PPC agency in South Jordan; its site data gives a December 2014 founding date. It is one of the few Utah agencies that publishes starting prices: SEO from $3,000 a month and Google Ads management from $2,000 a month, under a "No Lengthy Contracts" promise. It publishes a free AI SEO Playbook (AEO/GEO) that names ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews, though AEO is not listed as its own service on the homepage. Best for established businesses with an SEO budget above $3,000 a month.

Wudel Consulting

Wudel Consulting is our firm, in Lehi. The AEO program is $1,500 a month, month to month; with a new website included it is $2,000 a month on a 12-month minimum (pricing). Each client's customer questions are checked daily on ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, and we publish three answer-first articles a week. Our named case study is Olympus Roofing: named in 30% of 3,170 AI answers in October 2026, up from 19% in September. We do not run paid ads, PR campaigns or enterprise programs. Best for local service businesses that want AEO as the whole job.

Disclosure: I founded Wudel Consulting, one of the six agencies listed. The list is alphabetical, and every agency, including ours, is described with the same kinds of facts, taken from its own website.

What Should an AEO Agency Report Every Month?

A useful monthly AEO report shows, for your tracked questions, how often AI answers named you, how often they linked to your site, which competitors were named instead, and which of your pages got cited. It should compare against the prior month and say plainly what did not move.

What Should an AEO Agency Report Every Month?
MetricWhat it tells youRed flag
Visibility (share of answers naming you)Whether AI engines know and recommend youOnly one engine reported, or no baseline
Citations (answers linking to your site)Whether your own pages are the sourceCitations counted without naming the pages
Share of voice vs competitorsWho AI names instead of youNo competitors shown
Questions coveredHow many tracked questions name you at least onceQuestions changed without saying so
Pages citedWhich articles earn the linksNo link between work done and results

How Much Does an AEO Agency Cost in Utah?

Published AEO prices in Utah are rare. Of the six agencies above, two publish numbers: Searchbloom's SEO starts at $3,000 a month, and Wudel Consulting's AEO program is $1,500 a month. The rest quote per project. Expect the fee to depend on how many questions are tracked and how much content is published.

Whatever the price, ask what is included each month: how many articles, which engines are tracked and how often, and whether schema and technical fixes are in scope. Our what is AEO guide lists the pieces of a complete program.

Frequently asked questions

  • AEO stands for answer engine optimization: the work of getting a business named and cited in the answers AI tools give, such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews. It overlaps with SEO, since AI engines draw on indexed web pages, but its goal is to be the answer itself rather than one link in a list of results.

  • Mostly, yes. GEO (generative engine optimization) and AEO describe the same goal: being named and cited in AI-generated answers. Some agencies use "AI SEO" for it too. The label matters less than the work behind it, so ask any agency which engines it tracks, how often, and what it publishes on your site each month.

  • It varies by market and starting point, and no agency can promise a date. In our first client program, Olympus Roofing went from 0% AI visibility in June 2026 to 29% in July 2026, the first month of articles. That is one client in one market, so treat it as an example, not a forecast.

  • No. AEO work happens on your website and in the sources AI engines read, so a remote agency can do it. A local agency can help if you want in-person meetings or if it already knows your market's competitors. Judge any agency, local or national, on its tracking, pricing, terms and named results.

  • No. AI engines decide what to name, and their answers vary from day to day, so no agency controls them. An honest agency promises the work (questions tracked, articles published, technical fixes) and reports results against a baseline. Treat a guarantee of placement in ChatGPT answers as a warning sign.

  • Ask what AI engines say about your business today, which engines it tracks and how often, the monthly fee and minimum term, what you own if you leave, and for a named client whose numbers you can check. If an answer is vague, ask for it in writing before you sign anything.

  • Yes, the foundations overlap. Google's AI features draw on pages that are indexed and eligible for Search, and a fast, well-structured site helps both. What changes is the content: answer-first articles that match the exact questions customers ask AI. Many businesses keep their SEO work and add AEO on top of it.
